Updates were not configured correctly error while installing IE8 in Vista
While trying to install IE8, you may experience the error “Updates were not configured correctly.” in Windows Vista based PCs. This issue can be resolved using System Update Readiness Tool, which can be downloaded from Microsoft website.

This update works well for Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 also.
