Security fixes, JavaScript update bog down Internet Explorer 8

No comments November 5th, 2009

I was surprised to see an article by Scott in beta news website, where he mentions that the Security fixes, and JavaScript update will bog down IE8. He mentions in the article that they have noticed a trend of IE8 performance dragging down over time, while every other major Windows browser in the field was headed the other direction — and fast. Early this month, when Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 appeared imminent (and still is at this moment), we calculated the performance difference between IE8 and IE7 at about 75%.

However, after installing the security fixes that was released in the month of October, and the update for Microsoft’s JavaScript (JScript) engine, the performance has averaged down to 54%.

I hope Microsoft will further look in at these issues and present a browser which will compete with other browsers.

Make IE 8 Run faster with Google Chrome Plug-in

1 comment October 23rd, 2009

According to Computerworld, it has been identified that Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) was 9.6 times faster than IE8 on its own. This was identified in some of the tests done. An article from TechWorld site says that it was tested completely on IE6, IE7, and IE8 versions.

I’ve installed it in my Laptop and find a considerable increase in the performance and speed.
Google Chrome Frame lets IE utilise the Chrome browser’s WebKit rendering engine, as well as its high-performance V8 JavaScript engine. This will improve the performance of IE 8.

The Chrome Frame plug-in was tested on IE6, IE7 and IE8 and for Windows XP/Vista OS.
