Issue - You may experience “Address is not valid” error while visiting any website after upgrading to IE8.

Cause -  This issue happens because of one of the below reasons:

• Incorrect IE Prefixes
• Issues with IP/DNS
• Incorrect DLL files
• Incorrect IE Files

Resolution: To resolve this issue, perform the below recommended steps. You may have to check the status by opening some website after performing each step.

Incorrect IE Prefixes: The Windows registry has the prefixes for HTTP, HTTPs, FTP etc., and incase if these are corrupted, you may experience this issue. To resolve, you need to change some of the registry keys. Instead of directly registering the keys, you may download and run the IEPrefix Fix from this LINK.

After unpacking, right-click the fixieprefix.reg file and run as Administrator. Restart Windows once you are done with this step.

If the issue still persists, proceed with the next solution.

Issues with IP/DNS: You may need to flush the DNS and IP. Perform the following:

1. Click Start, Run.
2. Type CMD and press Enter.
3. Type “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter.

Incase, if your Internet provider has assiged a static IP address, then only perform the following, else skip.

4. Type “ipconfig /release”
5. Type “ipconfig /renew”

If the issue still persists, proceed with the following.

Incorrect DLL Files: Incorrect IE DLL files may also cause this issue. We recommend Downloading our Fix IE tool and run it. You need to restart your PC after performing this step.
