IE Tweaker has crossed 2200 downloads

No comments December 30th, 2009

As per our server statistics, morethan 2200 users have downloaded IE Tweaker utility. Thanks to every one for downloading/using IE Tweaker, the ultimate tweaking utility of Internet Explorer.

We have also received a very good feedback on the utility and we are quickly working on implementing the same. However, some of the users have highlighted that they are experiencing “Unhandled Exception” errors while using some of the options.

This error could be due to the restrictions in the AntiVirus program. I recommend you try executing the program by disabling the AntiVirus program till you execute the option and enable it back. Also, if you can let me know the option which is throwing the error, we will be able to fix it.

The other recommendation is to backup the registry. Since the tweaking utilities deals with the registry, it is always recommended to backup the registry. Our tool will not tamper your registry, or do any harm to your PC. It doesn’t have a spyware/malware/adware. The recommendation is made as a precaution, as that you can restore it to the previous stage if you feel that the option didn’t work as expected. The restore option will also helps you to do the same, but it is always good to have the complete backup of the registry.

Use the contact us page for any kind of support you need. Initially, we are open to extend our free support to various issues that you are experience/doubts that you may have in using the utility.

Security fixes, JavaScript update bog down Internet Explorer 8

No comments November 5th, 2009

I was surprised to see an article by Scott in beta news website, where he mentions that the Security fixes, and JavaScript update will bog down IE8. He mentions in the article that they have noticed a trend of IE8 performance dragging down over time, while every other major Windows browser in the field was headed the other direction — and fast. Early this month, when Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 appeared imminent (and still is at this moment), we calculated the performance difference between IE8 and IE7 at about 75%.

However, after installing the security fixes that was released in the month of October, and the update for Microsoft’s JavaScript (JScript) engine, the performance has averaged down to 54%.

I hope Microsoft will further look in at these issues and present a browser which will compete with other browsers.

popup says IE 8 is not installed

No comments October 23rd, 2009

I was looking some cool IE Addons, and thought of looking at the IE Add-on website. The moment I keyed in the website using my Firefox browser, I’ve got a pop-up that says my IE is still not updated and prompted me to Download IE8. I was surprised to see that message and immediately checked the version of my IE browser :) No problem, I’ve IE8 only.. but was baffled for some time and started googling out for a solution in the MS website.

Atlast, I was able to find some solution at http://social.answers.microsoft.com by Jack - Support Engineer, MSFT, Moderator who says “This is happening because IE8 is not showing as an installed update even though you have it installed on your machine.  When Automatic Updates runs, it compares the list of installed updates on your machine against the list of available updates.  Since IE8 is not shown as installed on your machine it triggers the pop up “nag” screens to appear on your machine.

I’ve immediately checked the Windows update to find if IE 8 is installed. Strange, I can see it in the list.

This made me to research on this issue further and atlast after an hour was able to find a solution. I just uninstalled the current version of IE8, and downloaded it and installed back. It didn’t prompt the message again :)
