Issue - You may experience issues with playing online games or watching YouTube Videos after upgrading to Internet Explorer 8.

Cause - This issue happens due to one of the following:

1. Game not compatible to work with Internet Explorer 8
2. Java Script option disabled or AntiVirus software is stopping the website to run scripts.
3. Corrupted scripting files.
4. Adobe Flash Player.

NOTE - We have to accept the fact that not all the online games are made compatible to work with Internet Explorer 8. Refer the requirements/notes of the game that you are not able to play to see if it is compatible with IE8.

Resolution - To resolve the issue, perform the steps mentioned below:

NOTE - The below solutions hold good for issues with viewing videos in YouTube also.

Step # 1 - Ensure that the online game that you are playing does support Internet Explorer 8. If it doesn’t support this new version of browser, you may try enabling the compatibility mode. The below solution will force all the websites to open in compatibility mode, so that you need not enable this option every time you come online or rather check if the site is compatible or not.

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools and select Compatibility View Settings.
3. In the “Compatibility View Settings” dialog, check the option “Display all websites in Compatibility View”.
4. Click Close button.

Step # 2 - If the issue still persists, you may need to enable JAVA Scripts from running. See if it has an option to allow specific sites access to JAVA or to bypass security for YouTube in your AntiVirus software. You may refer the instructions of the AntiVirus software to enable the same.

Also, ensure that the Scripting option is enabled by following the steps below:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools,Internet Options.
3. Click Security tab.
4. Select Custom Level.
5. Scroll down and ensure that the “Scripting for Java Applets” option is Enabled.

Now close all the IE browsers and open a new window and see if you are able to play online games.

Step # 3 - If still you have the issue, re-register the DLL files:

1.Click Start, Run.
2.In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and click OK.
3.Click OK.
4.Click Start, Run.
5.In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and click OK.
6.Click OK.

Step # 4 - If none of the above recommended options helped you in resolving the issue. You may try uninstalling and reinstalling the “Adobe Flash Player”

Issue:

When you try to open a link in a new Window or Tab, you might not see any response from Internet Explorer 8. This may mostly happens after upgrading to Internet Explorer 8

Cause:

This issue happens due to one of the following:

1. Insupportive Add-ons.
2. Corrupted IE files.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue, perform the following:

Disabling the Add-ons:

1. click Tools, Manage Add-ons
2. Select Enable or Disable Add-ons option
3. Disable all the add-ons that are under “currently being used by Internet Explorer” option.

To disable the add-on, click each add-on and click disable radio button at the bottom.

4. click OK and restart Internet Explorer when prompted

This should resolve the issue.

If the issue still persists, you may proceed with the below solution:

Re-registering the actxprxy.dll  file:

actxprxy.dll file is a module that contains functions used for Marshaling of ActiveX COM interfaces and is used by Internet Explorer.

Follow the Instructions below to re register the actxprxy.dll :

1. Click Start, Run and type cmd and press enter.

In the command Prompt window type Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and press Enter key.

If the command was successfully executed, You will receive the message DllRegisterServer in actxprxy.dll succeeded window.

Restart your IE window and it should now be able to open Hyperlinks in either new Window or new tab.

Issue

When you click a link that has associated with a PDF document, it may only open a blank web page.

Cause

This issue happens with the compatibility of the Adobe software and the Internet Explorer.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you need to uncheck an option in your Adobe PDF software.

Perform the following:

1. Open Adobe Acrobat
2. Click Edit, Preferences.
3. Click Internet option in the right pane.
4. Uncheck “Display PDF in browser” check box.

5. Click OK.

This will start opening the Adobe PDF document in Adobe instead of Internet Explorer.

Issue - You may not be able to see the Flash player images in certain websites after upgrading to IE8. You may also experience the following message

You either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe’s Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

Installing new version of flash player also may not resolve the issue.

Cause - This issue happens with the inconsistencies with Flash player add-ons, and IE.

Resolution - To resolve the issue, perform the following:

• Close all IE windows.
• Download offline installer of Adobe Flash Player [ Download ]
• Run the Installer, to uninstall the Flash player add-ons.
• Set the Security zone to Low. ( Tools, InternetOptions, Security)
• Install the Flash Player
• Set the Security Zone to the earlier value.

This will resolve the issue.
