Add a comment October 14th, 2009

Issue - Installation of KB970858 update may cause issues with browsing Internet.

Applies to - Internet Explorer 8, Windows 7

Cause - This issue was not reported by many users who are running Windows 7 operating system.

Solution - You may run the the Fix IE tool. Download using the link below.

If the issue persists, you may need to uninstall the update. Follow the steps to perform the same:

Click Start, Control Panel.
Click Programs and Features.
Choose the check box view installed updates.
Scroll down to KB970858 update and right-click and select uninstall option.

Restart the system now.

Go to Windows update and choose hide that update. You may choose this option when you are again prompted to install this update.

NOTE - The above provided solution is a workaround and doesn’t fix any of your OS files otherthan re-registering the DLL and OCX files that are required by Internet Explorer.

The fix worked! I’ve been dealing with this problem since I got my first machine with Vista and now again with Win 7. Thanks for this simple solution.
